Queen Rachel-"A Vacation From Decision Fatigue"

For many women, having several responsibilities, such as a busy work schedule or a hectic home life, can lead to overwhelming decision fatigue. Although it's normal to feel stressed from time to time, we often neglect the need to take a step back and let ourselves be pampered for a day.

For the beautiful Queen Rachel, stepping into the studio for her session was a new experience that offered her the opportunity to appreciate and care for herself. To give herself the mental and emotional break she deserved, as she learned to look at her body in a positive and empowering light. I'm so grateful to have gotten the chance to work with her, and I'm so thrilled with how her stunning images turned out!

Have you ever done a boudoir shoot before?

No, boudoir virgin (but not anymore!!!!)

Why did you do your boudoir shoot?

I felt I needed to do it. (Although I was quite skeptical about how the pictures would turn out because of being overweight.) I never do anything for myself, and in an impulsive moment, I signed up. This was also the first time my hair and make-up had been professionally done since my wedding in 2013.

What was your favourite part of the session?

I loved all of it—being told what to do and how to do it and not having to make a single decision throughout the session. Quinn did it all! I am decision-fatigued in my day-to-day life as a mom, wife, and nurse and am forever making multiple decisions; it was like a little vacation to just be in the moment!

What did doing this shoot do for your self-confidence, self-worth, and self-image?

Although I still have very negative criticisms about my body image, I am very ecstatic with how the pictures turned out. I am still in awe of them, and when looking at the pictures, I feel improved self-confidence and self-image while analyzing them, looking for a flaw but unable to see any.

Was your experience what you were expecting? If not, how was it different?

I didn't know what to expect. I emailed and texted Quinn multiple times leading up to the day about how nervous I was. When I was there in my session, I was comfortably moving around her studio in my skimpy outfits with zero embarrassment or nervousness that I was surprised wasn't presenting itself.

What was the best part of your experience? Would you change anything?

All of it was amazing. I would change nothing. It was amazing to be in a room with empowering, powerful, and confident women. Quinn's constant positive feedback during the session made me feel at ease. Even when I couldn't get a pose right, and Quinn had to say the same thing four times, I felt zero frustration. Quinn was patient and fun, and I could feel her passion for photography during my session.
